Engineer Ban Gaya Chaiwala!

Last week I had been to my home town (Bagalkot, Karnataka) and went to this tea shop named “Engineer Ban Gaya Chaiwala” on my uncle’s suggestion. You read it right, an engineer can become anything and here is an engineer who is running a tea business.

I first met him last year. He introduced himself as Ameer Sohel. He did diploma in mechanical and worked for few months in Toyota. He was not satisfied with the salary he was getting, in fact many of us are not. He was sure that he could earn more even staying at his home town. Meanwhile, he ended up resigning from the company and returned home without caring forlog kya kahenge”. But he did not sit quite, he was helping his father in the farm fields and parallelly kept thinking different ways to earn something on his own. He was not interested to depend on his father financially. A wise man said it right “the real freedom is, not to depend financially on anyone!

He said, few months ago he had been to Pune and had a creamy tea. That’s where he got an idea for starting his business. Since no one used to make such kind of tea in our native, he thought and decided to begin one! He borrowed some money from few of his friends and opened the shop in partnership with his friend Yaseen Mohammed.

If one believes work is worship then definitely he/she can be successful in their career” said the lord Basaveshwar. So did Amir and Yaseen. They both kept serving the best tea to the people and are now famous in town for their special tea. Within just two months of starting their business, now they are setting up to open second branch without taking any financial help from anyone and his income is much higher than any engineer doing 9 to 5 job. I hope some day soon, their business will turn to a much bigger one.

Things we get to learn from his success story,

  • Never sit quite, keep doing some or the other thing.
  • No work is small or big.
  • Be an achievement hunger.
  • If you don’t get a job, then find a way to create one.
  • Aim to inspire, not to impress!
